I have a tendency to invest my time and energy and money into everyone and everything around me, except for myself. This year, I made a promise to myself that I would invest in my business. I would take chances, and put myself out there and stop putting my work on the back burner.

I got chosen to attend Chuy Photos “Funk You Workshop” in Hesperia, CA. I’ve followed along with Chuy’s journey over the last year and a half and the opportunity to learn from one of my idols was a no brainer. 3 days with 4 other women from around the United States spending our time creating and pouring into our businesses.

Our first session of the workshop was with Linda and Lechi, who drove in from San Diego to model for us. One of the big draws to Chuy’s workshops is that he puts model calls out for real people. Real couples with no previous modeling experience so we’re working in a scenario that would be just like booking a real session.

Intimate sessions have always been something I’ve wanted to shoot more of. The connection. The slow down. The little moments we sometimes push past in our day to day with each other. They become so much more important. You get to find that passion again and hone in on it. You get to be in the moment with your significant other, taking each other in, feeling those touches, pushing past vulnerability to be here.
